The Will That Destroyed Our Family

Our father was a complicated man.

Strict.

Private.

And extremely wealthy.

When he died, the entire family gathered in a quiet law office downtown.

My older brother Mark sat confidently beside me, already calculating his share of the inheritance.

My younger sister Lily looked nervous.

The lawyer cleared his throat.

“Your father left a very unusual request.”

He placed three sealed envelopes on the table.

Each had our names written in our father’s handwriting.

“What’s this?” Mark asked.

“Inside each envelope is a DNA test result,” the lawyer explained.

The room went silent.

“Before his death, your father suspected something about his family.”

Mark laughed.

“This is ridiculous.”

But he opened his envelope anyway.

The moment his eyes scanned the page, his expression changed.

Color drained from his face.

“What?” Lily asked.

Mark slowly lifted his head.

“This can’t be right.”

My heart began racing.

“What does it say?”

He hesitated.

Then whispered the words that shattered everything.

“One of us… isn’t his child.”
