The drawing looked simple at first.
A house.
Three stick figures.
But then I noticed something strange.
One of the figures was lying on the ground.
Red scribbles surrounded it.
“Children draw strange things sometimes,” I said nervously.
The teacher shook her head.
“Look closer.”
I flipped the paper over.
My daughter had written something in crayon.
Five words.
“Daddy said don’t tell mommy.”
