Kate Middleton is giving back to the hospital that treated her cancer. On Friday, the Princess of Wales sent a meaningful gift to The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, as confirmed by Kensington Palace’s latest social media post.
Multiple photos depicted a bouquet of yellow narcissus flowers, otherwise known as daffodils, and a handwritten note from Middleton.

“To the Patients and Staff at The Royal Marsden,” her message, written on Kensington Palace stationary, began. “As spring arrives, these narcissi from the Isles of Scilly are to say I am thinking of you all.”
Daffodils are the national flower of Wales, making them particularly significant given Middleton and her husband Prince William’s titles as Prince and Princess of Wales.
In 2024, Middleton revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer (the type of which was never disclosed) and that she was undergoing chemotherapy. Making a surprise visit to The Royal Marsden in January 2025, the Princess not only shared that she was in remission, but that she was a patient at the facility, which specializes in cancer care.
“I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year,” she wrote on social media at the time. “My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything. We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”

Middleton simultaneously announced that she would join Prince William as a patron of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, a role he first took on in 2007.
“In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, my hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer,” Middleton’s statement continued.

“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support. C,” she concluded.
As a Kensington Palace spokesperson explained to the Daily Mail, Middleton “wanted to make the journey to both show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world leading care and treatment the Marsden provides.”
